TUCKER CUSTOM CUES
Maker of pool cues from 1999 to present in Leesburg, Florida.
Murray Tucker III began building custom cues in 1999 in Leesburg, Florida. This part-time business started when, as a pool player for over twenty years, Murray wondered if he could build a good cue for himself. He always liked and collected nice cues. Murray has a background in machining and works in a large machine shop. In 1998 he started buying wood and modifying his equipment so that he could build a cue. He has been addicted to making cues ever since. Murray now works full time as a machinist making custom forms for the concrete industry, then he makes cues part time in his home shop as a hobby.
Early cues were in the style of David Kersenbrock and Southwest, but now Murray likes to make more traditional four-point, four-veneer cues inspired by Rambow, Balabushka, and Szamboti, and he likes Hoppe rings. Murray prefers to make what he likes and then offer it for sale. He will only take orders for cues he wants to make. He has a small circle of customers and he only makes about a dozen cues a year. Playability is most important, so he won´t sacrifice the hit for looks. He usually uses 5/16-14 piloted stainless steel joints, but he also likes 3/8-11 flat faced joints. Murray makes his own full-splice hustler blanks and is working on full splices with veneers.
Murray Tucker III has signed and dated almost every cue since the beginning, usually between the points. A couple of his cues have a "3" decal on the butt cap under the finish. The average delivery time for a Tucker custom cue is currently about two years. Tucker cues are guaranteed for life to the original owner against construction defects that are not the result of warpage or abuse. If you are interested in talking to Murray Tucker III about a new cue or cue that needs to be repaired, you can contact him at Tucker Custom Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
