SKIP WESTON CUES
Maker of pool cues since 1990 in Haskell, New Jersey.
Skip Weston has loved to play pool since he was 15 years old. An accomplished player, he has run over a hundred balls more than once and he has won many nine-ball tournaments. Skip has always liked to make things with his hands. Skip completed courses in autocad and mastercam for his employment as a machinist, so it seemed a natural development for him to start repairing and then making pool cues. He made his first cue in 1990. He now makes Skip Weston cues full time. His work has been inspired by Gus Szamboti and Burton Spain.
With over 35 years as a machinist, Skip is proficient on all types of conventional and CNC lathes, millers, grinders, and other machine shop equipment. He makes all of the tooling and fixtures in his one-man shop, and he makes all of the components for his cues except for the tips and bumpers. Skip also has a unique process for making all of his one-piece hardwood veneers which are cut in 90-degree corners instead of mitered. The point veneers therefore have no seam at the tips. And he can make them to match the exotic woods used in the cue instead of dyed sycamore that may look the same color. Usually the outside veneer is the same wood as the point, and he only uses the natural colors of the woods in his cues. Skip is happy to build one-of-a-kind cues around the customers´ needs. Many types of joints, ferrules, tips, lengths, etc. are available.
Skip Weston cues are easily identifiable by the "Skip Weston" signature and date on the forearm, which Skip has done since he started making cues. They have an unlimited guarantee to the original owner against defects in construction that are not the result of warpage or abuse.
If you are interested in talking to Skip Weston about a new cue or cue that needs to be repaired, you can contact him at Skip Weston Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
