Maker of pool cues starting in 1912 for many years in New York City, New York.
When Isadore Rutzisky came to New York City from Lithuania in 1911 he was already a talented wood turner. Settling in the Jewish ghetto in the Bowery, he opened the doors to the New York Billiard Table Co. in 1912. The company was known for the quality of its ivory turning as well as its wood turning. Despite the name, no tables were made there. Rather, it was the place in New York to buy both the finest ivory billiard balls and some of the best custom two-piece cues available. The celebrities of the day flocked to the store to have "the professor" make them a beautiful cue to impress their famous friends. Among the stars who ordered cues from Isadore were Fred Astaire, Milton Berle, Tony Curtis, Sammy Davis, Jr., Jack Lemmon, and Kim Novak. For a picture of Isadore Rutzisky, refer to the listing for Blatt Billiards. If you have an Isadore Rutzisky cue that needs further identification or repair, contact Paul Rubino at Rubino Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
