Maker of pool cues from 1998, in Hanover Park, Illinois, to present in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
Tim Prince was born and raised in the suburbs just outside Chicago. He began playing pool in his early teens, and fell in love with the game and played whenever he could. After graduating high school, he attended college to become a mechanical engineer. It didn´t take long for him to realize that he wanted a career that enabled him to work with his hands and not sit behind a desk or computer all day. Tim joined the carpenter´s union and served his apprenticeship building upper class homes in the area. Once his apprenticeship was over as a carpenter, he again decided to switch careers. Tim became a tool and die maker like his father and served his apprenticeship under his father. As a tool maker, he learned about close tolerance machining and building progressive dies and tools. Tim completed the Tooling and Manufacturing Associations (TMA) four-year apprenticeship program and was nominated for apprentice of the year.
Tim went to have a cue repaired by a local cuemaker and knew immediately that he could do a better job if he had the machinery. Tim was already a very skilled tool and die maker and an excellent machinist so he started purchasing the machines he needed. He started doing repairs for a local pool hall, while experimenting with different cue constructions, until he devised the method he uses today. Prince cues have a very solid hit and feel to them. Playability is his main concern when building a cue. Each cue is made with great pride and attention to detail. All materials for Prince cues are hand selected and machined slowly over time to ensure straightness. Tim´s motto is: "Made by a Prince, fit for a King." Prior to 2000, the logo was a crown with T.Prince engraved under it. The current logo is engraved under the bumper: "T. Prince" with the year of production.
If you are interested in talking to Tim Prince about a new cue or cue that needs to be repaired, you can contact him at Prince Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
