OMEGA CUE COMPANY, LATER OMEGA/DPK
Maker of pool cues from 1989 to 1996 in Wauconda, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
The Omega Cue Company was founded in 1989 by Edward Boado, an entrepreneur and cue collector, and Mike Bender, a very skilled mechanical engineer who enjoyed working on cues. Ed was very happy with the cue repair Mike had done for him in the past, and Ed knew that they had the ability to become successful making cues together. Soon after Omega started, Ed and Mike were joined by David Paul Kersenbrock, at which time the letters "dpk" were added to the company name. David was a highly respected and innovative cuemaker who had written a book on the science of cuemaking and was involved in the creation of the South West cue. In 1991, Mike Bender moved to Alaska to start making custom cues on his own and he was later replaced at Omega by his brother, Matt Bender. Although they were never marked, Omega/dpk cues are easily identifiable by their unique flared butt caps and long stainless steel joint pins with thin collars. In 1996, Ed stopped making Omega cues in order to pursue other interests If you have an Omega cue that needs further identification or repair, contact Ed Young Custom Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
