MICHAEL MORGAN CUES
Maker of pool cues from 1992 to present in North Massapequa, New York.
Michael Miller restored antique pool tables many years ago in the greater New York area for Jackie Grimaldi. It was then that he became acquainted with cuemakers such as George Balabushka and Eugene Balner of Palmer. As a teenager, he often watched Eugene Balner work. Later, Michael owned a pool room, and became a fairly good player. He became friends with master machinist Harry Stower of Deer Park, Long Island. Harry used his years of machining experience to help teach Michael how to make cues. Michael named his cue business after his son, Michael, and his daughter, Morgan.
Michael Morgan cues are easily identifiable by an "MM" logo on the forearm or the butt cap that he has hand-signed. The first 25 cues had a serial number following the logo, while later cues have the year of completion. Two joint styles are available, a 3/8-10 flat faced, and a 5/16-14 piloted. Michael experimented in the late nineties with ferrules of impregnated holly, but now uses linen micarta. With his assistant, Mario Carasa, he makes everything by hand on a manual pantograph, except for the tips, screws, inserts, and bumpers. Michael carefully selects his woods and allows time for long aging to maximize the stability of the wood. He does a lot of repair work, and especially likes to work on older cues. Michael Morgan cues are guaranteed for five years to the original owner with proper care. If you have a Michael Morgan cue needing further identification or repair, or would like to talk to Michael about ordering a new cue, contact Michael Morgan Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
