LAMBROS CUES, INC.
Maker of pool cues from 1990 to present in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mike Lambros was a successful engineer in the late 1980s. He was also an avid pool player. But he was dissatisfied with the pool cues that were available, and he felt he could make better cues than what he was able to buy.
In 1990, he made the commitment to utilize his engineering skills to create Lambros Cues. The cues made in the first year are identifiable by the letters "ML," for Mike Lambros, on the Delrin butt cap. Cues made from 1991 to the present will have the name "Lambros" there instead. In 1995, Mike started making the points much longer and changed the dimensions of the butt cap. Cues made from 1990 to 1995 will have points that usually come to within 2 1/2 in. of the joint collar, and will have a 1 1/4 in. Delrin butt cap. Cues made from 1995 to 1999 feature 10 in. points which come to within 1 in. of the joint collar and have a 1 1/2 in. Delrin butt cap. From 1999 to the present, all cues feature the longer points but have a 5/8 in. phenolic butt cap. All cues are designed for playability, and the motto of Lambros Cues is "The Hit."
Mike makes less than 200 cues per year and cues are made to the design and specifications of the customer. In the summer of 1996, Mike introduced a new joint design for which a patent had been issued in 1998, called the Ultra-Joint. It features a 3/8-10 joint screw with an innovative, new concave face on the butt that joins with a convex face on the shaft. This joint is now the standard joint on all cues.
Lambros cues are guaranteed indefinitely against manufacturing defects that are not the result of abuse. If you have a Lambros cue that needs further identification or repair, or would like to talk to Mike about the design and specifications you have in mind for a custom-made cue, contact Lambros Cues Inc., listed in the Trademark Index.
