HARRY RICHARDS CUSTOM CUES
Maker of pool cues from 1989 to present in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Harry Richards´ cuemaking experience started in Tampa, Florida, in the late 1980s. He was trying to find someone who knew how to put a tip on a cue and do it properly. It was there that he met Wayne Gunn, who had made cues and had the know-how for doing a good job. Harry decided that cuemaking would be something he might enjoy. Wayne took him under his wing and began the slow process of learning how to work on pool cues.
In 1989 Harry made his first sneaky pete, a great playing cue. He made sneaky petes, break jump cues, and merry widows for two years, learning, experimenting, and trying to find the secret ingredient that makes for an excellent playing cue. Every time he put a cue together, Harry was looking for something that could be done to make it even better than what it was. During this same time, Harry started doing cue work at pool tournaments around Florida. This was a valuable experience for him, learning what needed to be done to make a cue play better.
In about 1994, Harry met another cuemaker, Dennis Searing, from Ft Lauderdale. He had been making cues for quite some time. They became friends and swapped trade secrets. In 1999, Harry went to work for Dennis and gained an immense amount of education, for which Harry is thankful. Commuting became a major problem, and now Harry is back in Daytona, Florida in his own shop.
