GUNN CUES
Maker of pool cues from 1972 to present in Thonotosassa, Florida.
Wayne Gunn and Terry McEniry share their talents in making Gunn Cues. Rocky Tillis gets the credit for getting them started, in Tampa, at Rocky´s shop, in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Wayne is a certified welder with 40 years of experience. Terry´s background is as a commercial fisherman and certified diver. Wayne was a player who could not find just the right cue for his game. He was looking for the right hit and has since discovered that in order to have the proper balance, the shaft of the cue needs to be tapered to fit the individual. Terry left commercial fishing in 1994, when they made gill net fishing illegal. Terry´s nickname, Mullet Man, comes from his fishing background. Terry learned cuemaking from Rocky Tillis, and spent time in Rocky´s shop from the age of twelve. Wayne started making cues in 1972, while Terry had started in 1967.
Wayne and Terry make many hustler cues and two-piece cues with solid wood butts. Only about 25 to 50 custom Gunn cues are made a year. They will make custom cues to just about any specifications the customer wants. Terry also makes about fifteen to twenty custom walking canes a year. Gunn Cues stocks a large supply of wood and try not to use any of their wood until they have aged it at least ten years.
At present, the average order time for Gunn Cues is three to six months for simple cues. Custom cues with points can take about four years.
If you are interested in talking to Wayne Gunn or Terry McEniry about a new cue or cue that needs to be repaired, you can contact them at Gunn Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
