EYE CUE
Maker of pool cues from 1988 to the present in Defiance, Ohio.
Jeffrey Lipp was inspired by his grandfather, who owned and operated a machine shop for most of his life. He has since past on and is greatly missed. He built and restored antique high-wheeled bicycles in his shop. He would fabricate and design every part he needed. Jeffrey´s grandmother, who is still living, helped Jeffrey´s grandfather by making all of the leather seats needed for the bikes. It was a family operation. Jeffrey saw his grandparents´ dedication to quality work and has tried to be a dedicated cue maker who strives for quality in his work. He started doing repair work on cues, starting with tips and ferrules. He slowly got into doing linen and leather wraps, and eventually progressed into making shafts and then the entire cue. Jeffrey learned about cue building from Chris Hightower, and has been inspired by Ray Schuler and Dennis Dieckman. Most of his learning was from trial and error. Early blanks were purchased from Dennis Dieckman, who had the first cuemaking shop Jeff ever visited.
Eye Cue is now a part-time business. Jeffrey is a heavy equipment operator with a background as a machinist and fabricator for several years. Jeffrey´s cues can be identified by the symbol of an eye followed by the word "cue" in cursive. Early cues had the initials "JPL" (for Jeffrey Paul Lipp) on the butt caps. All Eye cues are guaranteed against manufacturer´s defects that are not the result of warpage or abuse.
If you would like to talk to Jeff about a new Eye cue, or you have have an Eye cue that needs repair, contact Eye Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
