Maker of pool cues from 1994 to present in Clinton, Connecticut.
Barry Cameron´s pool interests started in the early 1970s, while working in a pool hall in Warner Robins, Georgia. He worked and played pool for about four years and became fairly proficient at the game that he still loves.
Barry´s interests in pool had to be put aside for a stint in the U.S. Navy, followed by college, and then family. In the early 1990s, Barry´s pool interests resurfaced and he started playing in local tournaments. He was an above average player who was often asked for advice about pool cues and the finer points of the game. It was then that Barry saw the need for affordable, quality pool cue work. He spent the next two years doing repairs and learning about cues and what players liked about the different ones available.
Barry purchased a lathe and spent a lot of time experimenting with different exotic woods and joint styles. He was looking for the right combination of joint, wood, shaft and construction to give a solid hit that he wanted to achieve. He finally produced cues that sold quickly, and gave the look and feel he was looking for. Playability is his primary goal. His mission statement is "For the player of the sport." Barry purchased additional equipment and now produces about 20-30 cues per year. He enjoys experimenting and learning more with each cue he makes. Barry has a small shop with miscellaneous equipment, including four lathes. One of those is primarily for taking to tournaments for doing cue repairs.
Cameron Cues can be identified by his signature on the butt cap, usually in silver or gold.
Cameron Cues are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship. If you want to talk to Barry about ordering a new Cameron cue, or have a Cameron cue that needs further identification or repair, contact Cameron Custom Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
