Maker of pool cues from 1994 to present in Bristol, Wisconsin.
Bob Runde started playing pool at the age of 15. He started making cues in the early 1970s, while working as the head engineer of a company in Wisconsin that made musical instruments. In 1975, he started working with a large Wisconsin cue manufacturer. After 2 1/2 years of 65-mile one-way drives to get there, Bob decided to return to making cues on his own. In 1981, Bob founded Schon Custom Cues with partner Terry Romine. Bob was involved with every Schon cue made during the twelve years he was there.
In late 1992, Bob sold his interest in Schon and retired. A little more than a year later, he started making a few cues every year as a hobby.
Bob now makes a few cues a year in the winter months, and plays golf during the warmer seasons. His cues are of a totally new construction design which he personally developed. All work is done by hand, and all inlays are of exotic woods or ivory. He does not accept any custom orders. Bob enjoys creating his own one-of-a-kind designs and offering them for sale. Bob Runde cues are easily identifiable by "Bob Runde" followed by a number and the year of completion, which appears on every cue he makes. About a half a dozen or so cues a year have ivory joints. All of his cues tend to have more of a forward balance than most other cues. In 2002, Bob started making short-spliced blanks instead of inlaying the points, as he had done previously.
Bob guarantees his cues indefinitely against defects that are not the result of warpage or abuse. If you have a Bob Runde cue that needs further identification or repair, or would like to talk to Bob about obtaining a new cue, contact Bob Runde Cues, listed in the Trademark Index.
